Play In Jackson County, GA
Jackson County, the 22nd county of Georgia, was created from part of
Franklin County. It is named for Revolutionary War General, Congressman and
Senator James Jackson. The county seat is Jefferson, named for President Thomas
Jefferson. It was originally located on the site of an Indian village,
Thomocoggan. Explosive growth is evident with the census estimate for 2009
showing a population of 63,544 up over 50% from 41,589 in 2000. Jackson County
is served by Interstate I-85, US highways 129 and 441 and GA Routes 11, 15, 82,
98, 124, 330, 332, 334, 335 and 346. |
